LGBTQ+ Events in NYC This Month and Next (October and November 2026)
The biggest LGBTQ+ events in NYC this fall are NewFest, the New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival (October 15 to 25), the Village Halloween Parade on October 31, Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20 and MIX Fest (November 19 to 21). Everything below is in date order from October 10 through November 30, 2026; confirm before you travel.
Queer Cutups
A collage exhibition curated by Hunter O'Hanian at the queer bookshop inside The Center. The Bureau is open Tuesday to Sunday, 1pm to 7pm, and its events list is one of the best free cultural calendars in town.
Soft Spaces: Heather Marie Scholl and Eva Wu
A two-artist show at the country's dedicated LGBTQIA+ art museum. Open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6pm, with a suggested donation of $10. A second show, PROPS from Barakei: Eikoh Hosoe and Jason Wee, opens November 6 and runs to March 14, 2027.
Cultivated: Ten Years of Tonewall
Tonewall is the a cappella ensemble of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, and this is its tenth-birthday concert. A small room and tight harmonies; a good way to hear the chorus before the big December shows.
I Put a Spell on You
The Ali Forney Center's Hocus Pocus tribute, billed as a concert that turns into a dance party. Every ticket funds housing and services for homeless LGBTQ+ youth, which makes a Monday night out feel downright virtuous.
NewFest38: The New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival
The 38th edition of the city's big queer film festival: more than 140 films in theaters across three boroughs, plus a virtual pass if you would rather watch from the couch. Ticket packages of four, six or ten knock 10 to 15 percent off. Popular screenings sell out, so book the ones you care about first and fill in around them.
NewFest Opening Night: La Bola Negra
The opening night film comes with a party attached, and it is the hardest NewFest ticket to get. If it is gone, the centerpiece screenings later in the week have the same red-carpet energy.
Hot Mess: Halloween
Halloween in queer Brooklyn starts two weeks early. This is the first of a run of costume nights at 3 Dollar Bill, the big queer club and performance space at 260 Meserole Street. Buy ahead; doors-only is a gamble in October.
Luscious Brunch
The second annual brunch benefit from the Ali Forney Center, built around the organization's women, trans and gender-expansive supporters. Contact AFC for tickets.
An Evening With Cynthia Nixon at NewFest
NewFest gives Cynthia Nixon its Voice & Visibility Award, followed by a conversation about The Gilded Age. An hour long, so you can still make dinner.
PFLAG NYC Gala
PFLAG was founded in New York by Jeanne Manford, and the local chapter's annual gala honors novelist Casey McQuiston, Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider and creators Cyrus and Babak Veyssi this year. Individual tickets start at about $500; it is a fundraiser for family support and safe-schools work.
NewFest New York Centerpiece: Club Kid
The festival's hometown slot. A New York story, a New York crowd, and usually half the cast in the audience.
Hallokween
The New York City Gay Men's Chorus does Halloween in a Hell's Kitchen bar. Expect costumes, belting, and a crowd that knows every harmony.
NewFest Closing Night: The Man I Love
Ira Sachs closes the festival with a drama set in the downtown art scene of late-1980s New York, starring Rami Malek, with a party afterward.
Free End-of-Life Planning Clinic
Not glamorous, very useful. NYC Pride and the Chosen Family Law Center host free information sessions on wills, health care proxies and the paperwork that protects chosen family. RSVP through the NYC Pride events page.
Village Halloween Parade
The 2026 theme is Body & Soul and the grand marshal is downtown legend Joey Arias. Anyone in costume can march for free: line up at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue between 6:30pm and 9pm, entering from the east or south (Sullivan, Broome or Canal). No costume, no marching, and it is a strictly no-alcohol event. Spectators should pick a spot on Sixth Avenue well before 7pm.
HalloweenTown: Brooklyn
Where to go once the parade is over. A seven-hour Halloween night at Brooklyn's largest queer club; take the L from 14th Street and you can be on the dance floor while Manhattan is still looking for a cab.
Women's Event
The Center's annual gala celebrating LGBTQ+ women, with an after-party. Registration is required and it raises money for the building's year-round programs.
SERVE
The Ali Forney Center's annual dance-a-thon, raising money to feed homeless LGBTQ+ youth. Form a team or sponsor a friend with better knees.
Brooklyn Nightlife Awards
The borough's performers, DJs, producers and door people give each other trophies. The quickest way to learn who is who in Brooklyn nightlife, all in one room.
New York Ramblers Drag Rumble
The New York Ramblers soccer club trades cleats for heels. Team fundraisers like this are a low-pressure way to meet a league before you join one; see sports.
Emery Awards
The Hetrick-Martin Institute's annual benefit for LGBTQ+ youth services. The 2026 theme is New York After Dark and the honoree is Brian Kelly, founder of The Points Guy. Cocktail attire.
MIX Fest
MIX NYC has shown queer experimental film since 1987, which makes it one of the oldest LGBTQIA+ film festivals anywhere. Stranger, scrappier and cheaper-feeling than NewFest, in the best way. The program was still to be announced at the time of writing.
Transgender Day of Remembrance at The Center
The Center's annual gathering to remember people killed by anti-trans violence. Past years have included speakers, performers and a shared meal. Full 2026 details were still to come when we checked; the date and time are confirmed. More community resources are on our trans NYC page.
Transgender Day of Remembrance with Destination Tomorrow
The Bronx LGBTQ+ center lists its own TDOR observance for the same day. Check its site for time and place.
The Queer NYC Year: An Annual LGBTQ+ Events Calendar
The dates below are the ones organizers have confirmed. Where next year's date is not out yet, we give the usual timing and what happened in 2026.
New York's LGBTQ+ calendar has a shape. Winter is for concerts and benefits. Pride starts earlier than visitors expect, on Staten Island at the end of May, and runs borough by borough through June before the March on the last Sunday. July belongs to the Bronx and to Fire Island. Fall is film festivals, Halloween and gala season, and it closes with Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20.
One correction to something you may have read: WorldPride was not in New York in 2026. The city hosted it once, in 2019, for the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. What happens here every June is NYC Pride, and it is plenty.
World of Red Ball 6
The Center marks World AIDS Day with a ballroom function: runway, voguing, fashion.
Yuletide Gay(er)
The New York City Gay Men's Chorus holiday concert, three performances. Tickets go on sale October 22.
NYC Gay Men's Chorus spring season
The Harmony benefit on March 3, a free concert at Cooper Union on March 26 (reservations required) and Gaydar at Lincoln Center on April 18.

Year-round rather than once a year: BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance at 2474 Westchester Avenue runs a rolling series of festivals with names like BlakTinX, Out Like That!, the BAAD!Ass Women Festival and the Boogie Down Dance Series, centered on work by women, people of color and LGBTQ+ artists. The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art changes exhibitions several times a year, and the Lesbian Herstory Archives in Park Slope welcomes visitors by appointment. More in culture and theaters.
Where to Find Reliable LGBTQ+ Event Listings Week to Week
Listings sites come and go (one popular queer events newsletter shut down this year). These are the calendars we rely on, and all were live in October 2026.
The LGBT Community Center calendar
Daily community programming
A dozen or more things happen here every day: recovery meetings, youth programs, support groups, readings, film screenings. If you are new in town, this calendar is the single most useful page to bookmark. The cafe and bookshop inside are a soft landing if walking into a group feels like a lot.
3 Dollar Bill
The busiest queer club calendar in Brooklyn
The events page lists more than forty nights for October and November alone, from bear tea dances to drag balls to a queer singles night. If you want to know what queer Brooklyn is doing on a given Saturday, start here.
Brooklyn Community Pride Center
Free weekly community programs
Weeknight programming with a neighborhood feel: queer martial arts, storytelling nights, wellness check-ins, and free HIV and STI testing on Wednesdays. Most of it is free.
Bureau of General Services Queer Division
Readings and book launches
The queer bookshop inside The Center hosts readings, launches and screenings, in person and online. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 1pm to 7pm. See also our bookshelf.
NYC Pride events
Official Pride announcements
Heritage of Pride runs things outside June too: open houses, free legal clinics, a National Coming Out Day rally at the Stonewall National Monument. This is also where 2027 March, PrideFest and Youth Pride details will appear first.
Pride Center of Staten Island
Staten Island listings
The island's LGBTQ+ center keeps its own calendar, and it is the only reliable source for events on that side of the harbor.
Gay City News
Local LGBTQ+ news
The city's LGBTQ+ newspaper. Read it for what an event means as well as when it is: Pride politics, vigils, and coverage of all five boroughs.
Tips for Going Out to LGBTQ+ Events in New York
Trust the organizer, not the aggregator
Third-party listing sites copy each other's mistakes. We found one 2026 Pride date listed a day off on a widely read guide. The venue or organizer's own page is the only source worth trusting for door times.
Buy ahead in October and June
Most club nights sell tiered tickets that get more expensive as they go. Halloween weekend and Pride week sell out outright.
Bring ID, every time
Clubs and most bars are 21 and over and check at the door, however old you look. A passport is fine; a photo of one is not.
Galas are not the only way in
A $500 gala ticket is a donation with dinner attached. The same organizations run free and cheap events all year, and many need volunteers on the night, which is the best seat in the house.
Tip the performers
Drag artists and dancers work largely for tips. Bring small bills. See drag shows for etiquette.
Leave Manhattan
The L train from 14th Street to East Williamsburg runs all night. The 7 goes to Jackson Heights. Some of the best nights in this city need a subway ride; our neighborhoods guide will get you oriented.
Sober and all-ages options exist
The Center hosts recovery meetings daily and its events are alcohol-optional by design. NewFest, MIX, museum shows and Transgender Day of Remembrance gatherings are all open to people who do not drink or are not 21.
